We thought it was about time that we updated you on how we have been getting on!
To be honest we have not felt like there has been very much to report as we really have just thrown ourselves 100% in to our jobs. We had a lovely break from training with our families in the UK during the month of June and then our pre-season training began at the start of July. Training has been progressing as well as we could hope, with the exception of a few minor new boot issues (we all know how painful that can be).
We are really enjoying our new programs again this year. The two programs are in total contrast to each other, the SD being very ‘fun’ with it being Polka and our FD is quite contemporary this year. After changing our programs half way through last season we felt that it was very important to choose music that we both really liked from the start and to find something that we felt reflected our personalities. We feel what are working with is just that, but you will see for yourselves very soon…
So…with one week left of pre-season training we have the new season for us beginning next week (we can’t believe that it has come round so fast). Thursday 30th and Friday 31st August we will make our season’s debut at the National Ice Skating Association’s IJS competition in Sheffield, UK. This is a very important event in the skating calendar as Great Britain’s Ice Skaters will go head to head to begin their conquest for another successful year. Everyone is welcome to come along, watch and support Team GB and British Development athletes perform. Full details of the event can be found here http://www.iceskating.org.uk/node/4074 and for those of you who won’t be able to attend you can follow our progress and the other competitors here http://www.obfusk.co.uk/SHEIJS12/ We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!!!
A few other things to report…
We had the opportunity to visit the Olympics as Team GB members. What a fabulous experience meeting some amazing people and being so very inspired by the talent and results that Great Britain achieved. An experience that we will never forget and one that has made us even more driven to realise our Olympic Dream. We look forward to watching the Paralympic team as they being their journey next week. Go Team GB!!!
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported us and made a donation to Cancer Research sponsoring the ‘Lulu’s Ladies’ Race For Life team. We raised just pence short of £800.00 for such a worthy cause and one that is very dear to the pair of us.
Very exciting and a project we have been working on for some time now – you may be interested in having a read of a recent press article http://fskating.com/2012/08/the-future-of-ice-skating-scores-six-point-zero.html
We hope this finds you all well and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
Best wishes and much love as always.
Season 2012-13 here we go…
